Movie Review: Interstellar
Interstellar
I am at a loss for words right now, and I can't believe I didn't watch this movie earlier. This isn't a movie; this is a whole different experience that is more than that. Starting with the opening scene, I early on made the predication that the elderly people in the first scene are actually them, in which they are explaining their living situations in the chaotic and watered-down earth they were living on, which was exactly what it was.
This movie kept me captivated and entertained for the entire 2 hour and 49 minute mark, and usually my attention span doesn't do well with some extremely long movies that do not keep me entertained and on my toes for the entirety. The sound track of the movie is probably one of the best ever, if we are being honest, especially the theme music. Some movies overdo the music or sound effects and overwhelm the viewer to the point of confusion, but in this movie it was truly perfect.
The visuals are another perfect or near-perfect element of this movie. I mean, you can tell the cinematography in this movie is going to be absolutely off the charts as soon as you watch the first 10 minutes of the movie, especially the space scenes, which are my personal favourites of the movie, and the immaculate effects just make them even better. To me personally, for a movie to be amazing or perfect, it has to contribute many attractions, such as comedy or emotion, and this movie does all that. The comedy in this movie will have you laughing. The comedy isn't constant throughout the movie, but it is there, and it shows.
I don't care who you are; this movie will have you teary-eyed or crying. We get so many strong performances from everyone in this movie and so many heartfelt emotions from everybody, to the point where it also makes you emotional, and the plot is also a part of that. Just the idea of people on earth aging as they're trying to "save" the earth adds a lot to that emotional side, including the amazing line in which Cooper says, "By the time I get back, we might even be the same age, you and me". Then, during Murphy's birthday, her being the same age as him when he left and him not being back by that time is absolutely cinema. Overall, one of the best movies I have seen in my lifetime
