Movie Review: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre

Image
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre I was quite eager to see this film since I enjoy viewing slasher characters from childhood and learning about their origins. The horrors and killings in this film are excellent, even though the basic plot and dialogue could use some work. Starting with one of the most anxious scenes that keeps you worried and disturbed, in my opinion, is when "the hitchhiker" is in their truck. The way he is so out of control and how he can switch how he acts at any moment is why it was so interesting to me. We get an introduction to Leatherface as soon as Kirk steps into his house; he gets brutally murdered with some sort of hammer, including his girlfriend, who gets hung up like some meat. Near the end of the film, we learn that the hitchhiker, the leather face, and the person working at the gas station are all brothers, which was fairly obvious given the way they all reacted. Edwin Neal and Marilyn Burns' acting is among the best in this film. Edwin Neal ...

Movie Review: Interstellar

Image
Interstellar I am at a loss for words right now, and I can't believe I didn't watch this movie earlier. This isn't a movie; this is a whole different experience that is more than that. Starting with the opening scene, I early on made the predication that the elderly people in the first scene are actually them, in which they are explaining their living situations in the chaotic and watered-down earth they were living on, which was exactly what it was. This movie kept me captivated and entertained for the entire 2 hour and 49 minute mark, and usually my attention span doesn't do well with some extremely long movies that do not keep me entertained and on my toes for the entirety. The sound track of the movie is probably one of the best ever, if we are being honest, especially the theme music. Some movies overdo the music or sound effects and overwhelm the viewer to the point of confusion, but in this movie it was truly perfect. The visuals are another perfect or near-pe...

Movie Review: Gravity

Image
Gravity  There have been multiple survival movies that I have watched and totally hated, but I went into this movie thinking it was going to be good because I have an interest in space and it's absolutely terrifying being stuck there, and I was absolutely correct. We start off the movie with a couple of astronauts on a mission. Matt, who is a veteran, is retiring after the mission, along with Dr. Stone and Sharif. Then, immediately after experiencing trouble, the Russians strike one of their own satellites, and the debris from that will challenge their mission. The way everything got destroyed in a matter of seconds and everyone died instantly was nerve-wracking, as was the idea of being alone in space. The peaceful silence throughout the movie as Dr. Stone moves around space while the camera gets a good view of the earth during the day and night is amazing and one of my favourite things about it. We then connect to Dr. Stone on a deeper level as she reveals that she had a kid who...

Movie Review: Friday the 13th Part 2

Image
Friday the 13th Part 2  Wow, this is terrible. I have never seen a movie do so well from their first movie and the sequel be this bad. We start off this movie with a recap of the first movie and only the survivor of Crystal Camp, which was then killed by Jason, and this time we can actually see Jason in the movie and not just his hands. Most of the stuff in this movie just doesn't make sense, and it's horribly done, such as why do Sandra and Jeff want to go to Crystal Camp after hearing all those sorties? I guess they want a death wish, and also, what happened to all the other 15 campers with them? They just disappeared from the movie. Going into this movie, I had higher expectations, such as at least getting better and crazier kills than the first movie, which I don't know how, but they have made it worse. For example, when Scott was tied up, I felt like that kill could've been way better than just some boring throat slits. One of the kills that was okay to me was whe...

Movie Review: Nobody

Image
Nobody I was kind of shocked to see Bob Okenkirck play a role like this since it isn't his type of movie, but I thought he actually played the character very well and fitted the character, unlike some actors who try to be in action movies and cannot be taken seriously. We follow a family man named Hutch who lives a pretty boring life every day, but after one night when his house gets robbed and he fails to protect his family and stop the robbers, he fills up with anger for not doing what he is supposed to and goes out looking for trouble anywhere he can. One of my favourite scenes in this movie is the bus scene, in which he unloads his gun like a total freak and fights the couple of hecklers, and we get some of the best action ever. The best kill in this scene has to be when he pulls off one of the poles and smacks the Russian kid, and when he's down on the ground and can't breathe, he slits his throat a little bit and puts a straw in it so he can breathe, which is probably...

Movie Review: Taken

Image
Taken We start off the movie by seeing a father, Bryan Mills, going to his daughter's birthday, and it's kind of awkward at first since he's disengaged with his wife and had to watch another rich guy take his place. We find out that he's retired from his job, which was working for the government, to get closer and spend more time with his daughter. She plans a trip to go on with her friend Amanda, and you can say that he's somewhat of an overprotective dad, but it's because he's been through so much that he's aware of stuff, but then he agrees to it. They run into some random, sketchy guy who offers them to hop into his taxi since it's expensive. Long story short, Peter helped get them kidnapped and human trafficked. That's the whole plot of the film, and we see Bryan going to go get his daughter back while cruising through insane scenarios. One of the coldest lines in this movie is when Bryan says to the kidnapper who has the phone, "I w...

Movie Review: Halloween ll

Image
Halloween ll This is probably the first popular scary movie for which the sequel doesn’t absolutely stink. We start off with a recap of the first movie, then immediately continue into the second movie. Once again, we see Michael in first-person pov going around the neighbourhood, creating more havoc, while people are just now learning about the massacre he cashed in. One thing that I thought was pretty funny is when Dr. Loomis almost shoots at an innocent kid that looked like Michael but gets stopped, but ultimately the kid still dies in a horrible car accident caused by one of his colleagues. One of the things I really like about Michael is his random appearances in front of people and just showing up at random places, which are continued in this movie. One thing I have noticed about Michael is that most of his victims die because of their curiosity. They could be doing something when a random noise gets heard, and they immediately want to see where the sound came from, which is dum...
